The University of the Cumberlands women's swim team started their 2016-2017 season on a good note defeating Lindsey Wilson 144-60, Saturday afternoon. The Patriots got off to a fast start winning the first event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, with a time of 1:55.36.
Several area students graduated from Roane State Community College following the 2015-16 academic year. For the first time, Roane State broke the 1,000 mark in graduates for an academic year with 1,076 students earning 1,101 awards. Here is a list of the graduates. Cum laude indicates a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.69. Magna cum laude represents a GPA of 3.7-3.89, and summa cum laude indicates a GPA of 3.9-4.0.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Swimming and Diving team hosted a tri-match on Saturday, October 24th against Bethel University and St. Catharine College. Both teams were looking for an early season victory as they look to build momentum. The women were pursuing their 2nd win of the season while the men were looking for their 1st. Both teams would come out on top as the women defeated St. Catharine 125-25 and defeated Bethel 123-34. The Patriot men would defeat Bethel as well by a score of 124-34. St. Catharine did not enter a men's swim team for the event.

Area students made the president's list at Roane State Community College. To be eligible, a student must attain a 4.0 grade-point average while attempting 12 or more semester hours of college-level courses.
University of the Cumberlands (UC) is pleased to announce that 93 students have been named Christian Leadership Scholar honorees for the 2015-2016 school year. The amount of scholarships awarded totals approximately $208,000 in scholarships in their first year or $832,000 over four years. The amount of the scholarship varies for each student based on the extent of active leadership involvement.

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has announced that nearly 500 students were placed on the Dean's List for the Fall semester of 2014. To be placed on the Dean's List, the student must be a full-time undergraduate and have a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.
